Great Camp!

We all had a great time this year at the RGDA camp.

J, Keith, and Kyle Watson put on outstanding blocks of instruction and everybody got to train hard.

We also went on a float trip down the river and watched Anderson Silva get lucky. Lot of fun and looking forward to next year.

Chicago NAGA 2010

Team Commean at the Chicago NAGA 2010

Team Commean at the Chicago NAGA 2010 - yes Josh and Shane are standing a little too close.

Everybody competed hard and represented the school well this year at the Chicago NAGA tournament this past weekend. Rob ‘Business’ Cooper was clearly the star of the show though, tearing up a 30 person bracket bringing home the silver (sword). The final match came at about 11:30 p.m. with Business getting about 30 – 45 seconds rest between the semi and the final.

Dave just before the Pirate came running out from below!

It was a long and chaotic day, but we all had a great time and a great trip, where there was just as much happening off the mat as on. Pirates, the politically incorrect tow company in the flavela, and the ill timed no insurance card road block would name just a few. Curse you Walgreens and your overzealous parking lot attendants.

Saturday we made sure not to get to the tournament too early because none of us would be starting until early afternoon the staffers were saying. So about 1 or 2 we decided to roll on in. About 6 I suppose Shane finally got to go in his no gi division – beautiful takedown in that first match btw.

A couple hours later the rest of us got started and around 11:30, we were finally packing up and heading home. Another chaotic NAGA as far as I’m concerned – judging by most of the forums out there I’m not alone – but competition is always good so whatever, maybe next year Kipp.

All in all, we came home with a couple medals and some ideas of what to work on next. Looking forward to the Hoosier Open and the C3.

Great Job Team Commean!
